Hey guys this is Andrew Sanns here with some information on Kabuki Theater which I think you guys might or might-not find interesting.

The Japanese Traditional performance art of Kabuki is denoted by three Kanji which stand for (ka)(bu)and (ki). Ka means song and music. Bu means dance, and Ki means technique and skills. These three characters were adopted some time after the birth of Kabuki, and represent the characters were adopted some time after the birth of Kabuki, and represent the characteristics of this art.

Kabuki is believed to have its origins in the songs and dances performed by a shrine maiden called Izumo-no-Okuni in Kyoto in 1603. Her songs and dances were "unorthodox" and " eccentric," or "Kabuku" and homonym of the word by which the art in now known.

Okuni quickly became very popular, spawning hosts of similar female performance groups, which caused moral problems. The Edo government prohibited these female performances, and in place of them, Wakashukabuki emerged, in which performances were given by boys. These performances, however, were also banned due to similar concerns over public morals.

These moral concerns ushered in the era of kabuki performed by adult males, and the art developed into a more sophisticated performance that did not rely solely on songs and dances. In this process, the influences of ningyo-joruri that emerged at almost the same time as kabuki, and the development of shamisen music, were some of the factors that made kabuki into a gorgeous, colorful and vibrant performing art.

Today, Kabuki is still developing and growing by absorbing various influences. New plays are being written, and kabuki performances staged outside of Japan have been well-received. Kabuki is a Japanese traditional performing art, but at the same time, it is a modern art that is full of energy.

Anyway that is the Overview and History on Kabuki of course I don't want credit for this awesome typing because I got it out of a pamphlet called Invitation to Kabuki.. anyway this pamphlet is awesome and I will keep posting things about Kabuki in this thread from the pamphlet so we have a better understanding of Kabuki Theater for future events.

hmm.... so i was sorta thinking of having workshop days.... most likely when the actors are acting, so we have some bonding time. next tuesday and wednesday evening will be brainstorm and pricing days for the craft and stage team.

important:
not much physical work will be done until the bill is passed, so we need to do heavy planning and job delagation early on.

I am praying we get the calcia stage, mostly because ive acutally worked there on a production and there are useful areas there. one disadvantage is that theres no backstage, so we will get very creative.

it is very important that we can get into that stage area as early as possible to consider the space, so jess, pretty peas can we get in next tuesday or wednesday? i know the door is locked most of the time... alrightly thats all my rambling..
